Member of the Board of Trustees of the Al-Kafaàt Foundation since 1995 and daughter of Nadeem and Lily Shwayri, Myriam holds a Master of Science in Communications Management from Newhouse School of Public Communications (Syracuse University) where she was a recipient of the Public Relations Students Society of America Scholarship (2007) and elected Phi Kappa Phi Society member (2008). She also holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering from the American University of Beirut (1996).
Myriam was the director of the Al-Kafaàt Technical and Vocational Training Institute (1998 – 2005). She then worked on the development of the Village Rehabilitation Campus between Al-Kafaàt and its technical and financial partners in Europe and North America (2005 - 2014). She developed in 2012 “Morus”, a social platform for the promotion of crafts produced by local artisans and adults with special needs, and reintegrated Al-Kafaàt in 2016 on a full-time basis. She is today the Foundation’s Director of Special Projects and Initiatives.
