Dr. Nazem Bassil

Dr. Bassil is a Medical Doctor specialized in family Internal Medicine, Geriatrics and palliative care. He is a Clinical Associate Professor at AUBMC since 2021, prior to which he was an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Balamand, St. George Hospital University Medical Center in Beirut between 2010 and 2021.

He originally obtained his MD degree from the Lebanese University in 2002, and underwent his residency training in Internal Medicine at the Balamand University, and in Family Medicine at the American university of Beirut. He subsequently completed his Fellowship at Saint Louis University (USA) in Geriatric Medicine and Geriatric Psychiatry in 2010. Dr. Bassil completed his Diploma in Palliative Care and Pain Management from the German-Jordanian University with special training in CHU, Toulouse (France). He has many international publications in Geriatrics and Alzheimer.

He is the founder of the NGO “SAWA for Palliative Care”, and since 2017 President of the Lebanese Geriatric Society.
